How to Apply for a Scholarship or Award
Scholarship applications for the 2008-2009 school year will not be accepted until after January 15, 2008, with the exceptions of the Marie Bossler Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship Fund application, which may be submitted now through February 1, 2008, and the Hispanic Center Scholarship, which may be submitted beginning January 1, 2008.

Berks County Community Foundation administers scholarship and award funds for Berks County students. These funds often carry the name of the donor, school district, or field of education that the scholarship or award serves.

Please browse our complete list of scholarships. Please note the contact information at the end of each fund description. In many cases, you will need to talk with your school guidance counselor to get an application. In some case you may be required to apply online through this website.

In cases where a scholarship is not tied to a specific school or the Community Foundation has sole responsiblity for selecting recipients, you can apply for the scholarship on-line. In those cases there will be link from the scholarship listing on the list of scholarships page.

Please be sure to follow all instructions and mail in any additional materials before the deadline listed on the application.

Note: Berks County Community Foundation employees, board members and/or committee members are not eligible to apply or be nominated for a grant or scholarship, nor are their immediate family members. Immediate families include spouses, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and stepgrandchildren. The ineligibility period for Berks County Community Foundation board members or employees extends five years after board service or employment terminates. The ineligibility period for committee members who are not Berks County Community Foundation board members or employees is in effect only during their term of service.

Establishing a Scholarship or Award Fund
Establishing a scholarship fund through the Community Foundation offers many advantages to the donor. For example, the Community Foundation has a scholarship administrator on staff who manages the scholarship or award application process, provides all check-writing services, and professionally acknowledges gifts whenever donations are made to the fund. In some cases, scholarship funds held at the Community Foundation are eligible for matching grants through our association with the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America and PHEAA's PATH program.
