Kevin K. Murphy Elected to Board of The Funder's Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities
Reading (March 17, 2004) - Kevin K. Murphy, president of Berks County Community Foundation, was elected to the board of directors of The Funder's Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities at the group's annual meeting in Vancouver last week.
The Funder's Network, based in Coral Gables, Florida, is a membership organization of corporate, private, international, community and intermediary foundations that are working to solve the environmental, social and economic problems created by suburban sprawl and urban disinvestment. The group's 90-plus members include foundation giants like The Heinz Endowments, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
"Berks County Community Foundation joined The Funder's Network several years ago in response to our community's efforts to reduce sprawl and increase municipal cooperation," Murphy said. "My election to the board is a direct result of Berks County's focus on issues like land use and the regionalization of services."
