Sustainable Community:
Initiative for a Competitive Greater Reading (ICGR)

  • What it is: The Initiative for a Competitive Greater Reading (ICGR) is a collaborative project of government, business and community leaders who are determined to breathe life into downtown Reading and strengthen the economic vitality of the county as a whole.

  • Who's involved: County and city government officials, local business leaders, and community and economic development leaders are working together with the Institute for Competitive Inner Cities (ICIC) to execute a plan for growth in the county.

  • Objective: To increase the number of jobs available for Berks County residents and thereby improve the quality of life for all who live, work and play here.
