Green Energy and the Environment

  • What it is: Through the Metropolitan Edison Company Sustainable Energy Fund, the Community Foundation makes grants and low-interest loans aimed at increasing the use of green energy and environmentally friendly technologies in Berks County and the Met-Ed region in Pennsylvania.

  • Who's involved: A committee of representatives from environmental and energy industries review grant and loan applications and make recommendations to the Community Foundation's board of directors on which projects to fund.

  • Objective: To increase the level of green energy that is available for consumption and green buildings that are constructed.
