Healthcare:
Addressing Berks County's Healthcare Needs

  • What it is: In January 2004, the Community Foundation commissioned a healthcare needs assessment of Berks County to determine the most pressing needs in our community. Results of the study are due in the spring. In the meantime, we have asked two local organizations to provide proposals aimed at improving prenatal care among Berks County's under-served populations both in the city and in rural areas.

  • Who's involved: A committee of 12 experts from the healthcare field recommends grants to be made from the Community General Hospital Healthcare Fund of Berks County Community Foundation.

  • Objective: To improve the overall health of the residents of Berks County.
