Education:
Scholarships for K-12 Education

  • What it is: The Berks County Scholarship Tax Credit Fund and the Private School Tuition Assistance Fund awards scholarships each year for Berks County students who demonstrate a financial need and who pay tuition to attend grades K-12. Scholarships from the Tax Credit Fund can be used for any public, private or religious school; scholarships from the Private School Fund are awarded only to students attending parochial schools.

  • Who's involved: Children, businesses and schools.
Businesses that donate to The Tax Credit Fund are eligible for special tax deductions from the state of Pennsylvania. The number of scholarship dollars available each year is directly related to the level of donations from these businesses. The Private School Tuition Assistance Fund was established by a private donor and is permanently endowed.

  • Objective: To provide funding for financially needy students to attend schools that require tuition in Berks County
