Community Leadership:
Youth Advisory Committee
- What it is: The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) helps young people address the issues facing their peers in Berks County. Members of YAC distribute $15,000 annually to fund programs that serve Berks County youth. The group is also working to raise $500,000 to permanently endow the Youth Fund.
In 2005 seven YAC members will travel to Russia to exchange ideas about philanthropy with students there. Click here to learn more.
- Who's involved: YAC is made up of high-school students from across Berks County. YAC members come from both public and private schools. Some YAC members have also been from home-schooling families.
- Objective: To educate teens about philanthropy and create connections among teenagers from different areas of the county.
