Acevedo Scholarship Aids Reading Grad's Dream of Attending Culinary School
Reading (July 26) -The Jorge Luis Acevedo Jr. Memorial Scholarship recently helped Jacob Frizzell, a 2010 Reading High School grad, fulfill his dream of attending culinary school in the fall.
Named in memory of Jorge Luis Acevedo, Jr., a Reading High School student who was killed by a drunk driver in 2003, the fund provides scholarships to Reading High Seniors who intend to enroll in a culinary arts program after high school.
Over the weekend, Frizzell threw the first pitch at the seventh annual Jorge Luis Acevedo Jr. Charity Baseball game at Berkshire Heights park in Wyomissing. Held in remembrance of Acevedo, this event raises money for the scholarship fund.
